Military Medal recommendation made whilst serving with 29th Battalion; 30 July 1918; Conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty as a volunteer stretcher bearer and worked throughout an attack and capture of enemy system, constantly under heavy shell and machine gun fire. Without rest, under great difficulties he laboured on until all the wounded had been brought on the night of 28-29th July 1918.
